Nickerson Goes Green for Earth Day — and Every Day!

Here at Nickerson Corporation, we recognize how important it is to preserve our environment and are dedicated to living up to our corporate social responsibility. That’s why we’re committed to working with only the finest manufacturers in the industry that share our environmentally friendly ideals and adopt progressive sustainable practices.

In honor of Earth Day just a little over a week away, we’d like to highlight some of the environmentally conscious practice that our manufacturing partners have adopted.

• Many of our manufacturers are GREENGUARD Certified, which means their manufacturing processes meet the standards required to be considered “low-chemical emitting.”
  Some of our partners are also MAS Certified Green, meaning that they product products at a lower-rate of chemical emission to the environment as well.
• Virco is a manufacturer that takes recycling seriously, using recycled materials to produce some of their products. Since their sustainability program started they’ve been able to recycle more than 326 million pounds of material.
• In addition to their furniture recycling initiative, Vicro also has a program in pace to pick up cardboard for recycling from 35 schools in their local area.
• Maharam fabric and wilsonart laminate are materials used by some of our manufacturers that are GREENGUARD Certified.
• HON  is a manufacturer that diverts its sawdust from landfills and makes it available for use as an alternative fuel source.
