The Summer Packing Checklist

With the end of summer coming, teachers everywhere are getting their classrooms ready for the year ahead. A classroom is large and complex by design to provide a full learning experience. Setup can be intimidating. Divide and conquer, separate your room into a series of zones and unpack in stages. Make a list to further simplify the process.

• Student Desks
• Blackboards or smartboards

Supplement your Curriculum

Children, especially the younger ones, are influenced by their surroundings. You want to surround them with knowledge. Search for posters, graphics, and other board formats that you can use to promote their education.

Furnish for Learning

Your classroom should be friendly and comfortable so your students are eager and ready to learn when they walk in the door. If kids are too cramped, frustrated, or just dread going into school in the morning, then teaching them will be a considerable challenge.

Show them they’re welcome in your classroom by finding desks big enough to spread out and get work done, and chairs that fit. Make sure the bookcases are function and not falling apart with age. And provide an overall fresh and efficient learning environment to contribute to the experience.
