Summer is coming to a close. Soon we will all be breaking out our sweaters and sipping pumpkin flavored drinks on a daily basis. This time of year can leave the mood in your office feeling sluggish and unproductive. Use these last days of heat to invigorate and rejuvenate your team. What can you do to bring the summer vibe into your workplace? Read on to find out.
1. Hold a family and friends open house. Invite your team to invite their families to the office to see where their family members spend forty hours a week. Get the event catered with tropical themed food like fish tacos so that everyone has an incentive to participate. Implement a few mixer games to get people talking. Try a scavenger hunt to get everyone involved and active. One great experience is all that it takes for these people to become loyal ambassadors of your company.
2. Make Ice Cream Sundaes every Friday at lunch. This one is an easy idea that keeps everyone cool and happy. Provide chocolate and vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, chocolate and caramel syrup, maraschino cherries, and sandwich cookies to crumble on top. All you have to do is set out the ice cream and toppings with bowls and spoons and the rest will take care of itself. Soon your break room will be flooded with people chatting away and occasionally fight off an on-coming brain freeze.
3. Host an “Ugliest Hawaiian Shirt Competition.” Inform everyone a few weeks in advance that there will be a special contest to find the ugliest Hawaiian shirt. Encourage them to alter their shirts to make them even more hideous and to accessorize with leis, sunglasses, khakis, and flip-flops. Designate a panel of judges to rank each contest entrant and award the winner with a coupon to leave work one hour early that Friday. This silly contest is sure to spread giggles throughout the office.
At Nickerson Corporation we believe that efficient office furniture and a creatively energized team is key to business success. So if you have started to feel the foreboding chill of Autumn, then implement these fun and creative ideas now. They are sure to help you enliven your team in the last few weeks of summer. One of your team members is sure to have a unique idea for capturing the last few moments of summer fun!
