While you and your significant other are celebrating Valentine’s Day this year, make sure to show the Earth some love too. If you’re trying to plan an eco-friendly Valentine’s Day, here are a few “green” ways to celebrate.
Walk Along the Beach
If you’re willing to brave the cold, take a romantic walk along the beach. Bring along your phone or camera and take pictures of any unique shells or sea glass you find.
Plan an Organic Picnic
Grab your bike, a couple of sandwiches and some drinks and head to the park for a romantic lunch. Finish the date with a bottle of organic wine.
Cook Together
Sure you could try to scrape together last minute reservations and go to a crowded restaurant, or you could enjoy a relaxing and romantic night at home by preparing your own dinner. (Bonus points if you get all of your ingredients from a local farmer’s market).
Ice Skating
Indoor or outdoor, natural or man-made, head to the rink for Valentine’s Day. A safe, frozen over lake is perfect for a private day, away from the crowds. But there is also something fun about the hustle and bustle of a public rink – did someone say “Rockefeller Plaza?”
Host a Wine Tasting
An organic wine tasting of course. Invite a few other couples over and spend Valentine’s Day together, after all – the more the merrier! Have each person bring over a bottle of their favorite wine and start tasting.
