Tips To Revamp Your School Lesson Plans This Summer

Now that school is out, you can spend your summer time working on lesson plan revamps. There’s something exciting about kicking off the start of a new school season with some fresh ideas. So dust off those old lessons and get creative while creating your new ones. Here are some tips to create effective and engaging lesson plans that your students will thank you for.

1. Begin with your end goal in mind: Figure out what you want your students to learn from this lesson and what your objectives are for the assignment.
2. Create a vocabulary list as you write out your lessons. This will help you remember important keywords that you need to emphasize, so your students can properly understand the lesson.
3. Decide on your introduction: Think of a fun way to introduce the lesson- whether it be a video, a worksheet or an interactive activity among your students. Make it fun to get them excited about the lesson to come.
4. Choose a way to teach the content of the lesson: Will a lecture fare best? Or does a group discussion work well for this assignment? Try to switch up your teaching style among lessons to keep your students engaged and interested.
5. Consider being interactive: One of the best ways to get kids to learn is by giving them a hands-on example. Visual learning can be very effective and is often received well because it’s fun and interactive!
6. Prepare your supporting material: Once you determine the lessons and subject matter that you want to touch upon, prepare any supporting information, homework plans and group projects that you want to assign to supplement the lesson. Think outside of the box and keep things fun! After all, learning about math doesn’t have to be boring!
