Even though school is out for the summer, it seems like a teacher’s job is never fully done. Since you will probably be making some trips into your classroom over the summer, whether it be to drop off items or attend some meetings, it might be a good idea to get a head start on cleaning. Don’t wait until the last minute before your students come back. Keep your classroom clean for the upcoming school year, with these simple tips:
Declutter & Organize: Before you start loading in all of the items you took home over the summer, sort through everything and make sure you’re not bringing in tons of clutter. Once you find an organizing system that works for you, stick with it! Taking slow and steady trips to your classroom throughout the summer will be much less overwhelming than doing it all at once.
Dust Your Room: There’s no doubt that dust will accumulate over the summer, so starting out with a thorough dusting from top to bottom will be your first step in preparing your room for the upcoming school year.
Give It a Good Scrubbing: This doesn’t have to be done all at once, but it’s definitely a good idea to get a head start. If you take small areas and really tackle them one at a time, it will lessen your load in the long run. Make sure to wash the walls, chalkboards, cabinets, tables and chairs to start the year off fresh and germ-free. If you do a deep clean now, you’ll only have to go in with a maintenance cleaning some the new school year.
As you begin your cleaning routine, take a look around and decide if it’s time to make some classroom furniture updates?
