For students at academic levels where lockers have stepped in as their primary source of storage space, the topic of locker safety must be addressed in order to maximize safety in all aspects of their educational experience. As technology continues to play a prominent role in students’ lives both in and out of the classroom, it’s likely that the majority of your school’s lockers will house at least one electronic device. Since tablets, laptops and smart phones come at a high cost, students must be advised on how they should care for their personal property since locker theft is always a possibility.

2. Always check that your locker is shut and locked before walking away. Even if you think it’s completely closed, there is always a possibility that the lock didn’t catch, so double check just to be sure.
3. Purchase a backpack that can fit both your books and electronic devices comfortably. Although the purpose of a locker is to store items that you don’t need on you at all times, the best way to keep your property safe is by keeping it with you.
