On August 8, Nickerson Corporation met with Habitat for Humanity in Suffolk County to participate in their Build a Backpack program. The Build a Backpack program was established to provide incoming students with new school supplies. To participate, individuals, families, organizations and more fill backpacks with supplies including notebooks, folders, pens and pencils that are then handed out to students and their families. Being that we thrive on making the educational experience a positive one for students, we knew that participating in this program was a great way to give back to a cause we truly care about.
In order to make the “back to school” transition a bit easier for students in need, Kayla, a member of the Nickerson team, worked to collect a variety of school supplies that students are required to have when they return in the fall. Then, we donated them to Habitat for Humanity! Although our logo and motto is “we furnish a child’s education,” we recognize that there is more to schools and classrooms than furniture and we believe that it is crucial for every student to have adequate school supplies to aid them in their educational experience. Additionally, since students are ultimately the real end users of our products and are a big part of the reason why we do what we do, we feel that giving back is a great way to show that we have their best interest in mind in all aspects of education.
We are so happy to have been given the opportunity to participate in this program! The following are a few pictures from the event:
