2012 was an exciting year for Nickerson Corporation. We installed a lot of our products in many prestigious jobs. We were also granted a WBE (Women Business Owners) Certification in the state of New York. To wrap up the year, let’s take a look back at some prominent projects from 2012.
The most notable project from this year is our work at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY. Nickerson installed state of the art arena curtains into the 675,000-square foot arena which can seat up to 19,000 people. These curtains allow the venue to easily block off or open up seating areas depending on the event’s seating needs. We also added all of the wall padding in the Brooklyn Nets practice gym. Our professionals had to work with many other trades also trying to make deliveries and complete work in the center.
A large renovation was completed in the summer of 2012 at St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, NY. The construction of the project transformed an old convent into six state of the art science labs and two prep rooms furnished and outfitted by Nickerson. Loose furniture including desks and chairs were manufactured by Virco, science lab casework and built-ins were manufactured by CampbellRhea. The school chose a beautiful bamboo veneer on all cabinets in lieu of traditional maple or oak. This finish made for not only an ecologically friendly installation but also an attractive and unique look. The entire building was also LEED Certified which was important to the school and community. Nickerson worked with BBS Architects on this project which was completely funded by a generous local donation.
The final project to note was the job done at William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ. We worked on updated and adding new furniture to Raubinger Hall. Updates were made to two floors of private offices and workstations. Private offices were furnished with Global’s Adaptabilities Series and Supra X seating. The workstations were divided by Affordable Interior Systems’ MWall. The time frame to install this project was abnormally short. Our team was able to get the job done on schedule and with no errors.
We are looking forward to new opportunities that 2013 will bring. We are driven to continue to serve our customers with the highest quality and standards in the industry.
