How to Personalize Your Classroom this Fall

August 28, 2015

Crunch time is here! For some, the first day of school is only a few days away, while others have just one final week to put the finishing touches on their classroom decor before the students come storming in. If you’re still having trouble adding a personal touch to your classroom this fall, here are a few tips to help you get your creative juices flowing.

Hang photographs around the room. Show off your family, pets and summer travels! This allows students to get to know you better, making them more comfortable in the classroom. Plus, you’ll be surrounded with pictures of everyone and everything you love!

Place a welcome mat at the door. If your home has one, why can’t your classroom? Adding an inexpensive welcome mat makes your classroom, cheerful, homey and inviting.

Create a cozy reading nook. Use tall bookshelves and an inexpensive area rug to define the space. Then, fill it with lounge furniture, a floor lamp for warm lighting and plenty of books to read.

Make an indoor garden. Aside from being a great learning aid when you hit the photosynthesis science unit, studies have proven that adding plants to a classroom setting can improve students’ well-being and stimulate their academic performance.

When it comes to personalizing your classroom, nothing says coziness and care better than fully functioning, comfortable classroom furniture. That’s exactly why our mission has always been to “furnish a child’s education” with reliable, comfortable and flexible classroom furniture to learn, play, and exercise on.
